Katherine L. Dorfman, LPC
(she, her, hers)
About Me
Katherine specializes in addressing trauma, eating disorders, and low self esteem. She also specializes in supporting military veterans coping with trauma and challenges around transitioning into the civilian world. Katherine works with adults and teens. Working with me you can expect to feel supported, encouraged, validated, and occasionally challenged. I operate from a place of constant curiosity as opposed to judgement. I am passionate about supporting folks heal from traumatic experiences in order to ultimately pursue a life that feels more uplifting than exhausting. I believe that it is essential to challenge shame and guilt in order to compose a narrative of resilience and empowerment. Are you someone who has a fraught relationship with food, eating, and your body? I work from a Health at Every Size philosophy as well as the notion that ALL foods fit. I have a warm, easy-going style and pull from evidence-based approaches such as EMDR, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and Inner Child art therapy. I work with people who are older teens, adults, and veterans. I specialize in depression, trauma, eating disorders, low self-esteem, and anxiety. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, licensed in the state of NJ as well as a trained EMDR therapist.
