About Me
With over 20 years of professional experience providing direct behavioral health services as well as educational/career counseling and parenting skills in private practice, educational institutions, and in the community, I have worked with children as young as five, teens, adults, and families to build healthy relationships, reduce anxiety and depression, build self-efficacy, process trauma/grief/loss, clarify educational/career goals, improve professional/athletic performance, and build effective and loving parenting skills. For the past ten years, I have worked in Medicaid and State-Funded behavioral health administration in the areas of provider contracting, Medicaid Fraud and Waste Investigations, Quality of Care Auditing, and in Utilization Management. My approach to therapy is grounded in Adlerian theory with an emphasis on encouragement and improving relationships in our lives and with ourselves. We cannot control or change others but can shape the life we desire for ourselves by our choices and ability to take responsibility for our actions. As we explore and process our own beliefs and choices, we have the power to change our attitudes and behaviors for the purpose of improving relationships in all areas of our lives. As we move toward change, others may be encouraged to change. Using Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Flash, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness/Contemplative Counseling, Faith-Based Counseling (from a Christian perspective), and Family Systems modalities, we will work in collaboration to facilitate introspection, growth, and experience symptom relief/resolution.
