Mr. Kirk Shelton, MA, LPC
I practice from a person-centered perspective, which prizes the alliance between counselor and client. I empower clients toward meaningful change by maintaining a powerful space of unconditional acceptance and invitation. I endeavor to place you in the driver's seat, as only you can navigate to the heart of the matter, and that often requires an honest, open context along with someone who cares and is willing to learn from you. You learn and grow as you work to express your experience, and you take that with you.
Education & Experience
I graduated with a Masters of Arts in Counseling in 2015. I've worked in the foster care system, office-based agency, community mental health, and private practice. I was EMDR trained in 2018, and have used EMDR to great effect with clients suffering from PTSD, OCD, anxiety, and depression. EMDR fits in well with my overall personality and style, placing my client in charge of the pace, focus, and goals.
