About Me

Individual & Relationship Counselling Psychotherapy – online and in-person from Northern British Columbia, Canada.

Who I Work With
I provide counselling for adults and couples dealing with mental health and relationship difficulties. With people who feel stuck in patterns of overwhelming behaviour, thinking, or emotions that they didn't choose, are disrupting their life, and haven't been able to change on their own.
This might show up as:
• Difficulty connecting with others.
• A lack of personal safety
• Ongoing relationship problems
• Persistent mood struggles (depression, anxiety, stress, or bipolar disorder)
• Overwhelming emotions (sadness, anger, fear, or hopelessness)
• Health or work-related difficulties
• Unhealthy or harmful ways of coping
• Symptoms related to PTSD or adjustment disorder.

How I Work
Together, we set goals for change, beginning with exploring how you see yourself, others, and the world around you now. Using a trauma-informed approach, we identify what is already working for you — the strengths and coping strategies that have protected and supported you so far, even if may be a part of the reason that you seek support now. From there, we focus on building skills and resources that will support you as you move into deeper work, to reprocess unhelpful patterns, and clear the way to explore and work towards a life that you would like in the future.
Some of the practical skills you may learn is to help you:
• Communicate more effectively those close to you and friends.
• Build a stronger sense of inner trust, safety, and confidence.
• Cultivate self-compassion, and forgiveness.
• Mindfulness to increase interoceptive awareness and equanimity.
• Set and hold healthy boundaries in your relationships.
• Develop lasting, healthy lifestyle habits you can maintain long-term mental health.

My Approach
My approach to therapy has been informed by many brilliant teachers and colleagues, formal professional trainings, reading, personal life experience, and by working with over a thousand clients for many years. I strive to provide compassionate, trauma-informed, mindful, culturally aware psychotherapy, that is centred on you as a person.

While my approach integrates many years of valued trainings, the principal evidence-based methods that inform by work are:
• Somatic Attachment-Focused EMDR (SAFE-EMDR)
• Mindfulness-Integrated Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (MiCBT)
• The Pearson and Bader Developmental Model of Couples Therapy.

My Commitment
I regularly pursue advanced training, research and clinical supervision related to my areas of practice and interest in attachment, trauma, mindfulness, first responders, relationships, and workplace-related concerns.
I'm committed to proving Telehealth and in person counselling that is ethical, reflective, and meet Canadian (PIPEDA) privacy standards. I hold current professional and general liability insurance.
