Preferred Name: Kris
About Me
Kristina Silvestry is the founding director of Peace of Mind Yoga, Counseling and Wellness Center. In 2008, under the guidance of Ruth Castellano, Kristina was introduced to Sandplay Therapy, a Jungian-based counseling modality that was instrumental to her growth both professionally and personally. Over the years she has committed her professional work to non-profit organizations as a counselor advocate at Domestic Violence Service Center; family therapist for Shelter Our Sisters; counselor at the Union County Rape Crisis Center; Pre/Post Adoption Clinician for Family Resource Center and the counselor for A Child’s View at the YWCA Union County. Throughout her years in counseling she has focused on families and individuals working through trauma and life changes. Over the years working within the trauma field, Kristina was able to identify the need for a holistic method including body, mind and spirit. The impact of her experiences motivated her to start the practice of Peace of Mind Counseling and Wellness Center and expand to Peace of Mind Yoga. Through her volunteer work with women and children, she received Women of Excellence Award in 2009. In 2011 she was also selected as an alternate delegate to represent the United States during YWCA World Council in Switzerland. Kristina utilizes all of her experiences-professionally and personally to help develop Peace of Mind.
Education & Experience
Kristina is a Licensed Professional Counselor in New Jersey and nationally board certified with a Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Marywood University. Kris, along with the Peace of Mind staff, is engaging in an ongoing monthly Sandplay training and consultation with Betty Jackson and Ruth Castellano. Kris completed the Polyvagal Theory training with Deb Dana with the Professional Counseling and Psychotherapy Seminars in Ireland. Furthering her studies she became trained and in the process of full certification in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and obtained her Certified Clinical Trauma Professional designation. All of these modalities allows Kris to connect and provide a safe space for people working through multiple life experiences.
