About Me

Before becoming a counselor, Lainy served in the U.S. Army for 14 years. During Lainy’s military career, she discovered that she had a strong desire to help others and later decided to pursue a Master of Science degree in Mental Health Counseling. Lainy is a Registered Play Therapist, certified in Sand Tray Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). Lainy believes that some of her best qualities as a counselor come from the experiences that she gained in the military and from being a mother. These experiences have helped her to be a good listener, responsible, respectful, motivated, and dedicated to her clients. Lainy is nonjudgmental and recognizes and validates the client’s feelings while treating everyone with respect. She creates a safe environment where she is trustworthy and has empathic understanding. When working with clients, she is aware of the individual’s culture, beliefs, values, family structure, how the client views themselves, and their interactions with others.
