About Me
Hi, I’m Leana Torrez, a bilingual Licensed Mental Health Counselor based in Florida and the founder of Let’s Talk Psychotherapy. I provide virtual therapy for teens and adults across Florida who are ready to understand themselves better and begin healing from difficult life experiences.
My work focuses on helping individuals who feel overwhelmed, stuck in cycles of anxiety, emotional exhaustion, or self-doubt—often connected to unresolved trauma or stressful life transitions.
Trauma can show up in many ways, including difficulty trusting others, feeling disconnected from yourself, chronic stress, or the sense that your nervous system is always on edge.
I specialize in trauma therapy using EMDR therapy (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). This evidence-based approach helps the brain process distressing experiences so they no longer feel as overwhelming. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and culturally responsive, creating a space where clients can develop deeper self-awareness, self-compassion, and emotional stability.
My goal is to help you build a life that feels more grounded, meaningful, and aligned with who you truly are.
Education & Experience
I earned my Associate of Arts degree from Miami Dade College before completing my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Religious Studies at the University of Miami. I later earned my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University.
During my clinical training, I completed my internship at Aventura Hospital, where I worked alongside psychiatrists, social workers, and nurses to assess crises, develop treatment plans, and provide trauma-informed care to individuals experiencing significant emotional distress.
I have experience working with survivors of trauma, domestic violence, and individuals navigating immigration-related stress. I have facilitated individual therapy and support groups while collaborating with attorneys to support clients seeking protections under the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA).
These experiences reinforced my commitment to trauma-informed care and culturally responsive therapy.
