About Me
Dr. Mabel Lo is a Clinical Psychologist, licensed in both Delaware and Iowa. Dr. Lo’s practice involves individual psychotherapy and psychological evaluations for individuals and their families dealing with a wide variety of concerns. Her clinical interests include anxiety and mood disorders, trauma recovery, substance use disorders, ADHD, grief and loss, family of origin issues, eating concerns, perfectionism, cross-cultural adjustments, and spirituality. She is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and her expertise is helping individuals struggling with complex childhood traumas and PTSD. The foundation of Dr. Lo’s clinical practice is Person-Centered Therapy as she believes in each person’s self-worth, abilities, and resources. She creates a secure, nonjudgmental and inclusive space for clients to grow their self-awareness, improve connections with themselves and others, and work toward a holistic well-being. She employs and integrates clinical interventions from various therapies, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), attachment, family systems approach, and multicultural counseling to best meet the unique needs of each client.
Education & Experience
Dr. Lo obtained her doctorate from Fuller Theological Seminary and did her internship at Iowa State University Student Counseling Services. She has substantial clinical experiences working with diverse populations from the Midwest and the Los Angeles area, in a variety of settings including community mental health clinics and a psychiatric hospital. She also held a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Counseling from Hong Kong. Prior to entering the field of psychology, she spent several years working in Human Resources for global organizations, so she is familiar with workplace issues and stress. Additionally, Dr. Lo is fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese, and she also provides clinical services in those languages.
