About Me
I am a registered Professional Clinical Counselor with the New Zealand Association of Counselors (Membership # 88406). I am committed to supporting clients through some of life's toughest challenges, especially those facing major obstacles, crises, illnesses, and traumas. With over 15 years of experience, I offer both short—and long-term therapy as needed. I work with adolescents, adults, and families from diverse backgrounds, including first responders, nurses, police officers, and actors/writers. As a certified EMDR therapist, I specialize in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), a well-established method for treating trauma and fostering healing. Additionally, I am trained in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Narrative Therapy (NT). I also integrate art and play therapy when it aligns with client needs or is specifically requested. My therapeutic approach is grounded in trauma-informed and person-centered principles. I recognize that our relationships significantly shape our self-image, perceptions of others, and overall worldview. My goal is to establish a collaborative, warm, compassionate, and judgment-free atmosphere where clients feel safe to explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences. The therapeutic relationship nurtures a meaningful connection founded on empathy, curiosity, and honesty, which enables clients to navigate emotional and relational challenges in a supportive manner. This approach fosters self-awareness, improves relational skills, and uncovers more fulfilling modes of self-expression. It also empowers clients to convert insights gained during therapy into ongoing, meaningful actions and experiences, equipping them to face future challenges confidently.
