About Me
Hi My name is Maria and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I have been working in the field of behavioral health for well over a decade in a variety of treatment settings including locked treatment facility, community mental health agencies, residential treatment centers and private practice.
Some of the research based approaches I use in counseling include Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I am also trained in Sex Therapy.
I have extensive experience working with individuals, couples and adolescents with a wide range of mental health needs.
I am passionate about helping my client’s work through life’s challenges such as trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, self esteem issues, loss and grief, complex PTSD and sexual dysfunctions.
Education & Experience
BA in Psychology from The University of California, Riverside.
Masters in Psychology with an emphasis in Multicultural Counseling from University of the West.
Trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) from EMDR Institute an EMDRIA approved Provider.
Trained in Sex Therapy from the Buehler Institute an ASSECT approved Provider.
