While life is a gift, a "well-lived life" requires focus, discipline, and a regenerating drive to fulfill one's purpose. For this reason Dr. Roland's professional mission is to work with individuals and teams to inspire and empower individual and interpersonal development across the whole course of life. He has applied this mission in various contexts, including universities, churches, civic groups, medical and psychological clinics, businesses, law enforcement facilities, emergency response facilities, hospitals, and in his own private practice.
Education & Experience
A native of South Carolina, Dr. Mark Roland attended undergraduate school at Carson Newman College in Jefferson City, Tennessee, receiving a B.A. in Psychology. He earned a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and completed his residency in Clinical Psychology at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. Following his residency, Dr. Mark Roland served as the Regional Director for the NEPEC National Trauma Study at the Veterans' Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) in Augusta where he also served in the PTSD Treatment Unit. Dr. Roland is trained in EMDR and specializes in treating PTSD and other anxiety-related disorders, as well as personal development and career/life transitions. Dr. Roland is a member of the Georgia Psychological Association (GPA), a previous board member of GPA, and former editor of the Georgia Psychologist. He is married and enjoys spending time with his family.
