About Me
I came to the profession of therapy late in life through my strong desire to help others by providing direct care. Prior to counseling I had a varied and fulfilling career working in non-profit administration and management as the Director of Administration for the Child & Family Institute in Sacramento, California. A nonprofit that provides out-patient mental health services to at-risk children and their families, and the Performing Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) in Galt, California. A nonprofit which provides sanctuary to abused, abandoned and retired captive wildlife. I also have a background in theatrical production and design where I worked at the Tony-award winning Goodman Theatre, Chicago’s oldest and largest not-for-profit theater.
Education & Experience
My approach to therapy is holistic (mind, body and spirit) and solution-focused. I incorporate a variety of modalities to help individuals address their life challenges. These include: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT); Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT); Motivational Interviewing; Internal Family Systems and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I have also completed Level 1 Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy and use the Gottman Method in my work. I am also a graduate of the Stop at Nothing Leadership Program and the Sierra Health Leadership Program.
