About Me

Trust and safety are at the core of any successful therapeutic alliance. Telehealth has given us the opportunity to engage in therapeutic sessions while you are in the comfort of your own home. I began in this field as a client and quickly fell in love with the process of self-discovery and healing. My own experience informs the unconditional positive regard, empathy, compassion, and respect I hold for each of my clients. In the first session, I will conduct an informal case conceptualization interview to gain insight into your history and work with you in a collaborative effort to identify goals for our work. I have a decade of experience working in the substance-abuse setting where I treated a wide array of co-occurring disorders, including PTSD, depression, anxiety, phobias, grief, adjustment, gender identity and issues relating to sexuality, to name a few. I quickly understood the significance of treating trauma, which so often underlies distorted thinking and maladaptive behaviors. While earning my masters degree in counseling psychology from PBA, I also completed training in Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR), an evidenced-based therapy proven to help with PTSD. I began implementing the technique alongside traditional talk therapy and the results have been profound. By treating underlying core issues and disturbing memories, EMDR liberates a client to live more fully in the present and make healthy changes to move forward in a more adaptive way. I have had the honor of working with military veterans and first responders, but trauma survivors don’t always wear a uniform. Survivors of sexual assault, abuse, neglect, violence - threatened, witnessed, or realized, domestic violence, car accidents, natural and man made disasters, grief and loss, are all potentially deeply impacted and changed by their experience and thus candidates for healing through EMDR. My goal as a therapist is to help you identify and implement your goals as a human. I will work with you to create an individualized treatment plan that is tailored to meet your unique needs. I use a variety of approaches including cognitive behavior therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, motivational interviewing, 12step therapy, and EMDR. As your therapist I will listen and support with a non-judge mental ear. I will hold up an unbiased mirror in reflection. I will challenge your blind spots and offer evidence-based strategies to change distorted thinking and unhealthy behavior patterns. I will help you to make sense of your past, so that you can be the best version of yourself in the present, creating a healthier future.
