About Me
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of New Mexico. As a 6th generation New Mexican, I feel a deep connection to our state and am proud of my eclectic roots. I believe we can hold on to the beautiful traditions that serve to connect us to family and origins while letting go of the maladaptive cultural norms that have caused emotional pain and suffering. I am honored to be a part of the healing journey for our multicultural population.
I have worked at A New Hope Therapy Center for 4 years and prior to that I worked in a public-school setting as a social worker / counselor. I have experience working with adults, families and couples. I also have extensive experience working with adolescents in outpatient and residential treatment settings and I have led psychoeducational groups for teens. I focus on client-centered therapy and motivational change to work toward therapy goals. I incorporate mindfulness, imagination, and play into cognitive behavioral therapy, helping shift negative self-talk and perceptions of self-image. I am also trained in EMDR and working towards certification through EMDR International Association.
In a world of uncertainty and fear, I strive to build clients up and help them find peace.
Education & Experience
I received my Bachelor of Social Work from New Mexico Highlands University in 2013 as well as my Master of Social Work in clinical practice from NMHU in 2015.
