Dr. Pamela Dockstader-Ortiz, PsyD

Preferred Name: Pamela
About Me
I specialize in trauma-focused counseling. Traumas, big or small, often cause depression, anxiety, strained relationships, occupational & academic obstacles, which interfere with achieving life goals. With guidance and support clients learn to make connections between past traumas, current stressors and triggers to employ new and more adaptive ways to cope. EMDR effectively lessens symptoms felt by trauma survivors. I have received the "Serving Our Veterans Behavioral Health Certificate," to better serve military veterans & families. I have extensive experience in treating traumas due to grief/loss, natural disasters, abuse (physical/emotional/sexual) and various other misfortunes related to every day life.
Education & Experience
Prior to earning my Doctorate degree in clinical psychology, I worked in community mental health, in-patient at an inner city psychiatric hospital, private practice and DCFS with children and families.
Professional & Volunteer Affiliations
Volunteer experience includes: The American Cancer Society, Alzheimer's Association, Family Readiness Program (US Army). My Professional Affiliations are EMDRIA, the APA and the National Register of Health Service Psychologists.
