About Me
Dr. Raquel Guardado-Soto (she/her/hers) is a Salvadoran-American bilingual (English/Spanish) speaking California Licensed Psychologist. She completed her Ph.D. at the California School for Professional Psychology at Alliant University with an emphasis in Forensic Psychology. Dr. Guardado-Soto has worked with underserved and marginalized communities throughout her graduate work and post licensure. Experienced in treating and assessing patients who have been exposed to trauma, Dr. Guardado-Soto is certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). She is trained in Internal Family Systems (IFS) and amongst other trauma focused therapy models (Written Exposure Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Prolonged Exposure) and integrates these into treatment. Understanding the nuances and impact that trauma has on human development, coping, and daily functioning is imperative when assessing or treating individuals who have experienced trauma. Dr. Guardado-Soto is cognizant of the effects that adverse childhood experiences can have on adulthood and this informs her interactions in treatment and in evaluations.
During self-care time Dr. Guardado-Soto enjoys reading, spending time with her family and friends, visiting the beach, hiking, or enjoying the outdoors.
Education & Experience
Dr. Raquel Guardado-Soto completed her Ph.D. at the California School for Professional Psychology at Alliant University with an emphasis in Forensic Psychology in 2014. She completed her post-doctoral training at Rehabilitation and Orthopedic Center which incorporated a multi-disciplinary approach to functional restoration in the treatment of chronic pain. Dr. Guardado-Soto has extensive experience in treating trauma, mood disorders, substance use and severe mental illness using EMDR, IFS, CBT, and DBT.
