About Me

Hello! I earned my doctoral degree in Counselor Education and Supervision from North Carolina State University, where I also completed my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Master of Science in Counselor Education. With over 27 years of experience in school and clinical mental health counseling, I have dedicated my career to supporting children, adolescents, parents, and educators. My deep passion for counseling drives my mission to “help others transform their lives from the inside out.” As an EMDR-certified therapist specializing in trauma-informed care, I am committed to guiding individuals through healing and personal growth. In addition to my clinical work, I am a professor mentoring students pursuing a master’s in clinical mental health counseling. I am a board-certified licensed clinical mental health counselor supervisor in North Carolina (#S3954) and a licensed professional counselor in South Carolina (#4802). I have written multiple books and workbooks, as well as spoken at national and international conferences. My work has been featured in prominent national and international media outlets such as the Associated Press, Chicago Tribune, Seventeen Magazine, Scholastic, and US News and World Report. I am dedicated to making evidence-based practices accessible, practical, and relevant both in my writing and clinical practice. As an EMDRIA Approved Consultant-in-Training, I provide EMDR supervision designed to build your confidence and competence, empowering you to apply this impactful treatment and make a meaningful impact with your clients. I also offer this specialized supervision at a low rate to make professional development more accessible.
