About Me
I’m a psychologist who helps adults work through anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship struggles, low self-esteem, and longstanding emotional patterns that can feel difficult to change. My approach is warm, collaborative, and deeply attentive to who you are—not just the symptoms that brought you to therapy.
I integrate EMDR, psychodynamic psychotherapy, CBT, and mindfulness to help clients process painful experiences, understand the deeper roots of their struggles, and develop a stronger, more grounded sense of self. Therapy is not simply about symptom relief; it’s about creating meaningful and lasting change in how you relate to yourself, your emotions, and the people around you. EMDR can be especially helpful when painful experiences continue to affect self-esteem, relationships, emotional regulation, or a sense of safety long after the events themselves have passed.
I believe many of our emotional difficulties develop in response to experiences that once helped us survive, adapt, or stay connected to others. Together, we work to better understand these patterns with compassion rather than judgment, while building the capacity for greater clarity, resilience, confidence, and emotional freedom. I offer therapy in both English and Spanish and am licensed in New York and New Jersey.
Growing up in a bilingual, bicultural Spanish-speaking home profoundly shaped the way I understand identity, belonging, resilience, and emotional life. It gave me firsthand insight into the complexities of navigating different cultural expectations, intergenerational values, and the tension between connection and individuality. These experiences continue to inform my work and deepen my appreciation for the many ways people struggle, adapt, and heal.
Education & Experience
My background in psychology reflects both extensive clinical training and a longstanding commitment to helping people heal, grow, and better understand themselves. I earned my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from St. John’s University, following earlier degrees in psychology from George Mason University and James Madison University. I later completed advanced postgraduate training in Psychoanalysis at New York University, which deepened my understanding of the enduring ways early experiences, relationships, and unconscious patterns shape emotional life.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with children, adolescents, adults, and couples navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, self-esteem struggles, and major life transitions. My work has consistently been grounded in curiosity, compassion, and respect for the complexity of each person’s experience. I have worked with individuals from a wide range of cultural, racial, religious, gender, and sexual identities, as well as across diverse family structures, backgrounds, and life circumstances.
My therapeutic approach is integrative and tailored to the unique needs of each client. I draw from EMDR, psychodynamic and psychoanalytic psychotherapy, CBT, and mindfulness-based approaches to help people process painful experiences, develop greater emotional clarity and resilience, and create more meaningful and fulfilling lives.
I value ongoing learning and professional growth and remain committed to maintaining a thoughtful, ethical, and up-to-date practice that is responsive to each client’s individual needs and goals.
