About Me
I am the owner and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) of Healing Tides Health and Wellness, PLLC. I earned my BSN at UNC-Chapel Hill and initially worked as a nurse in a Medical/Surgical Intensive Care Unit. I cared for patients at their most critical and came alongside families in the throes of tragedies and loss. These experiences led me to return to school to pursue my MSN as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) at UNC-Chapel Hill and then a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from Duke University. After many years as an FNP in various settings and seeing the great need of folks struggling with accessing mental healthcare, I returned to school to further specialize as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. As a PMHNP, I have worked with children, adolescents, and adults with various mental health needs. In addition to my clinical work, I have served as faculty for Schools of Nursing in North Carolina, working to shape the future generation of nurses and advanced practice nurses. My work in academia has provided the opportunity to contribute to increasing the capacity of our healthcare system while positively impacting the health of communities across the state. I am passionate about helping those (nurses, healthcare workers, and patients) who have experienced traumatic experiences related to the healthcare they have provided or received. I am also passionate about working with those who have struggled with infertility - a journey that often feels lonely and isolating. My depth of experience, coupled with being dual certified as an FNP and PMHNP, enables me to consider your whole person - body, mind, and spirit. I am eager to help empower you to find your voice and see that, with help, you can work toward healing and wholeness.
