About Me
My name is Dr. Serena Gupta. I have over 20 years of experience working with adults struggling with trauma, complex trauma and anxiety related disorders. My therapeutic style is warm and compassionate. Healing and Growth can be a challenging journey. I believe we are all born unique and have the capacity to get in touch with our inner potential. When we connect within and accept ourselves for who we are, we are able to strike a healthy balance and live in harmony with ourselves and others in the world. I am here to walk with you on this journey and provide a safe place where the important changes can be made to improve the quality of your life. I am invested in you and committed to creating an authentic and empathic therapeutic environment.
Education & Experience
I specialize in providing EMDR therapy, Sandplay therapy and Ketamine assisted psychotherapy. My Ph.D. is in depth psychotherapy which enhances the above mentioned therapies by providing a lens on how the unconscious aspects of the human experience influence psychological conditions. One way to explore the unconscious besides Sandplay therapy, is through dreams. My approach to dream analysis is to work collaboratively, going at the patient’s pace and interest. As I specialize in trauma, it can be difficult and scary initially to talk about one’s traumatic experiences, therefore other modalities such as Art therapy and Transactional analysis (TA), can also be implemented. Transactional Analysis, developed by Eric Berne, who was influenced by Freud, examined relationships and human interaction by developing a theory called ‘Ego States’. I usually run a closed 12 week educational group on TA. While specializing in trauma, my interest and expertise lie in working with adult children of alcoholic/addict parents as well as adult children with parents diagnosed with personality disorders with fractured parental relationships.
