Mrs. Shaunté Sherwood, LPC
About Me
A little about me: I'm a first-born Leo through and through, direct, warm, and not afraid to be a little bold, and I've spent over a decade in community mental health here in Arizona. Everything I do is grounded in a trauma-informed lens, because I believe the things that trip us up usually aren't flaws. They're protections that made sense once, even if they don't anymore. My style is collaborative and goal-focused: this is your life we're working toward, and I'm here to help you get there.
Education & Experience
I received my Bachelors degree from Arizona State University in 2009 and my Masters Degree from Grand Canyon University in 2014. I worked in community mental health right after working mainly with substance use disorder, anger management and domestic violence offenders. In 2020 I transitioned to educating myself about how trauma impacts a person. I got trained in Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and then Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) adding on training in Structural Dissociation.
