About Me

Sabona (I see you), Wamukelekile (Welcome) and Thank you for being here! I am a mother first, a partner and Zimbabwean Canadian clinical social worker who is interprovincially licensed in AB, BC, ON, NS & NWT. In addition, I am a psychotherapist, a board approved clinical supervisor and a psychoeducation workshop facilitator who has been practicing social work for 13 years. As a decolonizing practitioner, my work is rooted in UBUNTU, centred in intersectional social Justice and anti- oppressive practice. I have spent all the years in my career dedicated to holding space and bearing witness to the sacred stories of diverse children, youth, adults, couples and families of diverse identities, abilities and cultures in the fields of child protection work, mental health and play therapy. I am passionate about the continuous unlearning of colonial ways of knowing, and relearning precolonial and indigenous ways in the spirit of Sankofa in order to heal the colonial social conditioning and intergenerational traumas in re- humanizing ways that cultivate culturally responsive, identity affirming care and collective liberation to all humans.

Education & Experience

My elementary and secondary school education were completed in Zimbabwe and my own grandmother whom I adore was my grade one teacher. Upon immigration to Canada in 2014, I completed by Bachelors and Masters in Social Work between 2005 and 2010 at York Univeristy, Ontario.
