About Me
Shazia Almas is a Registered Psychotherapist in Ontario, Canada. She provides trauma-focused and evidence-based psychotherapy to adults and adolescents, with a particular emphasis on complex trauma, dissociation, emotional dysregulation, attachment wounds, and relational trauma. She is also passionate about supporting first responders, 911 professionals, veterans, executives, and athletes who face high levels of stress, responsibility, and cumulative trauma.
Almas's therapeutic approach is collaborative, trauma-informed, and grounded in a deep respect for each client’s unique strengths and lived experience. She is especially attentive to pacing, safety, and resourcing when working with individuals who experience high emotional intensity, chronic trauma responses, or difficulties with affect regulation. Her work focuses on fostering healing, resilience, and long-term integration through compassionate, evidence-based care.
Education & Experience
Shazia Almas has a PhD in Psychology and is an EMDR Certified Clinician with advanced training in EMDR for complex presentations, dissociation, and developmental trauma. She is also extensively trained and experienced in Standard Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT).
Her clinical work integrates EMDR therapy with evidence-based approaches, including DBT, attachment-oriented frameworks, and somatic and stabilization-focused interventions.
In addition to her clinical practice, Almas serves as a Clinical Supervisor, supporting therapists in developing ethical, competent, and trauma-informed practice. Her supervision style emphasizes clinical attunement, reflective practice, and adherence to professional standards, while fostering confidence and clarity in therapeutic work.
