Sheila Read, LCSW
About Me
I specialize in working with adults experiencing anxiety, low self-esteem and relationship issues that are rooted in childhood trauma. I have special insight into attachment trauma and family dysfunction related to alcohol abuse/addiction and mentally ill or emotionally immature parents. I am also trained in R-TEP for reprocessing of recent trauma.
Education & Experience
I graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a Master's degree in Clinical Social Work in 2002. I opened my private practice in 2015 after working in a variety of hospital and community mental health settings. I have found EMDR to be the most focused and effective way of healing most of the concerns my clients bring to therapy. I am committed to excellence as an EMDR therapist. I participate in advanced trainings each year in EMDR and also get regular consultation.
