About Me
As a clinician, Shivani strives to create an authentic, compassionate, and safe therapeutic space while supporting people navigate through difficult life circumstances and realties. Shivani takes a holistic and humanistic approach, honouring unique strengths and cultivating a sense of empowerment both during and beyond the realm of therapy. “I am drawn to the resilience of my clients in creating a scaffold for change. While we are an institution of our experiences that may influence our present and we can all participate in writing our new beginnings.” Shivani has extensive experience in psychotherapy, clinical supervision and consultation. She has a sound understanding and experience in working with individuals of varying ages and integrates several theoretical and evidence-based methodologies to support individuals achieve their goals. Shivani is an EMDRIA Certified EMDR Therapist. EMDR is an evidence-based psychotherapy shown to be effective in treating the symptoms of stress and trauma. It may also be helpful in treating things that may be personally traumatizing like anxiety, phobias, OCD, major disappointments, regrets, disturbing events, betrayals and loss. Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy has been recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a first-choice treatment for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD; WHO, 2013). Shivani has trained in Auricular Acupuncture and incorporates auricular therapy in helping individuals facing acute stress, trauma, anger, anxiety, depression, fatigue and other emotional and physical pain. Shivani is a certified Yoga Teacher and incorporates gentle Hatha based mindful yoga including Pranayama (breath work) & gentle poses to support healing.
