Dr. Thomas Conklin, LPCC, LPC, PhD
About Me
I have more than 15 years experience as a mental health professional, and I'm licensed to practice as a licensed professional counselor in California and New Jersey. I make extensive use of EMDR to address problems associated with PTSD and complex trauma. My treatment approach is guided by attachment theory and the recognition of how childhood experiences affect present cognitions and emotional regulation. I am exploring how to incorporate the Adult Attachment Interview (AAI) into the EMDR protocol, especially in terms of case conceptualization and target memory identification.
Education & Experience
I have masters and doctoral degrees in clinical mental health counseling. Prior to starting a private practice I was a full-time professor and director of a CACREP-accredited MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program.
I have been trained in administering and scoring the Adult Attachment Interview (AAI) at the Attachment Center and the New School for Social Research. I have been deemed as a 'highly reliable' practitioner of the AAI by Mary Main and Eric Hesse of UC Berkeley.
