About Me

I’m the owner of Verus Ridge Counseling, a group private practice in rural Burnham, PA, where I work alongside six wonderful clinicians. After completing EMDR training, I became passionate about helping clients work through trauma and move toward deeper, lasting healing. I also recognized that meaningful healing sometimes requires more time and space than traditional weekly therapy allows. That inspired me to open Clapp Therapy Intensives LLC, where I offer focused, extended sessions for clients who are ready to dedicate more time to their healing in a shorter, more concentrated period.

Whether in my clinical work or personal life, I’m passionate about creating a sense of safety, connection, and attunement. I believe healing happens when we feel safe enough to be ourselves, explore the things that hurt, and move toward the life we want to live. I strive to bring warmth, authenticity, and a healthy dose of humor into my work with clients. Therapy can be hard work, but it doesn’t have to feel stiff or intimidating!

Outside of the therapy room, I’m a true outdoorswoman. I love motorcycle trips through the countryside with my husband, birdwatching, hiking in the mountains, taking long walks, and hunting. I discovered the power of yoga during the pandemic, and my weekly yoga practice has changed my life! At home, my cat, Bug, keeps me on my toes and makes sure I never forget who’s really in charge. I wouldn’t have it any other way!

Education & Experience

I earned my master’s degree in Christian Counseling from Cairn University in 2013 and became a licensed professional counselor in Pennsylvania in 2016. My clinical background includes cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and several evidence-based approaches to trauma treatment, including Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT), and Prolonged Exposure (PE).

Over time, I developed a particular passion for helping people navigate obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). I pursued specialized training in Exposure and Response Prevention (EXRP), earned certification in this approach, and completed training in Inference-Based CBT (I-CBT). As someone with lived experience with OCD, I enjoy integrating these approaches to help clients better understand their OCD, step out of cycles that keep them stuck, and move toward greater freedom in their lives.

After completing my foundational EMDR training in March 2026, I became increasingly passionate about incorporating EMDR into my work. I value the opportunity to help clients process painful experiences, work through trauma, and address deeper wounds that may continue to affect their lives. I draw on my training and clinical experience to tailor treatment to each client’s needs, goals, and readiness for the work.
