About Me
Vivien Tay is a warm, compassionate, and highly skilled counsellor with over a decade of experience supporting both individuals and couples through life’s most difficult seasons. Known for her calm presence and client-centred approach, she creates a safe and respectful space where healing, growth, and meaningful change can take place.
She holds a Master of Counselling (Advanced) from Swinburne University of Technology and a Bachelor of Psychology (Second Class Honours, Upper Division) from James Cook University. Vivien’s clinical work is grounded in evidence-based and trauma-informed practices, with advanced training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing Therapy), specialising in complex trauma, traumatic loss, and attachment-related issues. She is also trained in Brainspotting Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Transactional Analysis, Family Therapy, and Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST). For couples, she integrates the Gottman Method, supporting partners to strengthen communication, rebuild trust, and reconnect in meaningful ways. As a member of both EMDR International Association (EMDRIA) and EMDR Singapore, Vivien remains at the forefront of global best practices in trauma recovery and mental health care.
Her counselling style is integrative and person-centred, tailoring therapy to each client’s unique needs while keeping human connection at the heart of the process. She collaborates closely with clients to clarify goals, explore concerns, and build a personalised roadmap for healing. Whether helping someone work through trauma or guiding a couple through relationship struggles, Vivien empowers her clients to reclaim their lives with clarity and resilience.
Vivien is also a trusted voice in mental health and wellbeing. She has been featured on ONE FM 91.3 and interviewed by CNA TODAY, where she shared expert insights on trauma, depression, workplace stress, and navigating midlife challenges. She has spoken to live audiences of over 1,200 people, offering grounded and relatable perspectives on mental health, resilience, and wellbeing. Her ability to engage both individuals and large groups makes her a thoughtful addition to conferences, wellness panels, and workplace mental health events.
Guided by the belief that “Freedom is what we do with what happened to us,” Vivien walks alongside her clients as they process trauma, grief, anxiety, or significant life transitions. She helps them find relief from distress, make peace with their past, and build a life that feels authentic and fulfilling.
