Abreactions are unsettling events occurring during an EMDR session; while typically indicative of processing, these experiences can evoke significant discomfort for the clinician and client. In this ethics training, the presenters will discuss the nature of abreactions, strategies clinicians may use to manage their responses, and methods to utilize abreactions for the benefit of processing.
