Approved for 1.5 EMDRIA Credits

Every client’s story begins with their identity. This interactive training highlights the importance of centering an individual’s various identities, race, ethnicity, culture, and intersecting experiences throughout the phases of treatment. Participants explore methods to collect and integrate these core identity narratives into information gathering, trust building, case conceptualization, and resourcing. While providing targeted and creative adaptations for working with racially and culturally diverse youth and adults, this training emphasizes cultivating cultural responsiveness and psychological safety with every client. Through a blend of educational instruction, case examples, and interactive practice, participants will leave with concrete, developmentally sensitive tools—including playful and creative adaptations for child and adolescent work—that can be immediately implemented across in-person and virtual settings.

Presenter: Dr. Jenay Garrett, LPC-S
