Approved for 3 EMDRIA Credits
In this advanced course, the principles and theories of ecotherapy are interwoven with EMDR. How to incorporate nature therapy into Phases 1 and 2 of EMDR is taught and practiced. In Phase 1 of EMDR, the client’s history of traumatizing and adaptive experiences in nature is gathered. Gathering client’s happy and scared experiences in the natural world is taught and practiced. Working with nature is useful in Phase 2 of EMDR. The natural world offers a limitless supply of soft and inspiring moments, which easily add to the adaptive memory networks; in particular a sense of awe and a deepening of faith can be experienced. Using nature in Phase 2, Resourcing is practiced in a large group format and practiced in small groups. Lastly, ideas and designs for how to access nature more in your life and bring nature more to the life of your clients are explored and shared.
