Approved for 1.5 EMDRIA Credits
This advanced workshop is designed for EMDR-trained clinicians seeking to deepen their capacity to integrate DBT skills within the EMDR eight-phase protocol, with particular emphasis on Phase 2 (Preparation/Stabilization) and continuity across subsequent phases. The training begins with a focused review of empirical findings regarding phase-based trauma treatment and the role of dissociation and regulation in therapy outcomes. Participants will explore how core DBT micro-skills—mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness—can be mapped to EMDR interventions (e.g., resource development/installation, safe-place, container, future template). Through demonstration, group practice, role-plays, and fidelity checklists, clinicians will build competence in designing stabilization plans (Phase 2) that incorporate DBT micro-skills, and learn decision rules for when to pause processing and revisit stabilization. The content further addresses how to carry DBT-informed strategies into Phases 3-8 (reprocessing, installation, closure, future template) for complex trauma, dissociation-prone clients, and borderline personality disorder comorbidities.
