This course explores the historical evolution of trauma theory and differentiates acute, chronic, and complex trauma. Using the Adaptive Information Processing (AIP) model, participants learn to conceptualize complex trauma and understand how traumatic memories are encoded and maintained. Emphasis is placed on Phase-Oriented Treatment and the integration of EMDR’s 8 phases to promote stabilization, reprocessing, and integration in complex trauma treatment.
