Due to the development of the internet, the existence of the extreme organized abuse of children is no longer a valid debate. While much research and media interest has been given to the perpetrators and organizations, the victims of torture-based child trafficking remain largely unknown, unrecognized, and un-recognized by institutions and society at large. Even in fields that treat trauma, how to help victims of that kind of trauma is pretty widely debated. This day-long workshop addresses this need in as practical and direct a way as possible. Less an exploration of how that abuse is perpetrated, this course will be presenting micro- and macro- ways of helping a person begin to recover from that degree of abuse. This includes: recognizing the impacts and symptoms of that degree of traumatization; the very specific needs of that person in a therapeutic relationship; addressing the need for and development of functional resources and community as necessary to recovery; and some specific therapeutic practices and approaches to empower the therapist
