Approved for 3 EMDRIA Credits

When EMDR processing slows, shifts, or stops, clinicians may move quickly to problem-solving. Yet the next clinically sound step may be to identify what changed in the therapeutic relationship, what cultural meaning or current context is active, what is happening in the adaptive information processing (AIP) system, and what the protocol calls for next. This live advanced training introduces the Jordan & Smith Four-Lens Model -Relationship, Culture, AIP System, and Processing- as a clinical judgment aid used within, not instead of, standard EMDR therapy.

Through demonstration, guided case conceptualization, breakout practice, and phase-specific decision exercises, participants learn to recognize where ruptures can hide across Phases 1–8; distinguish relational rupture from a processing block, clinical complexity, and ongoing present-day threat; and respond with culturally humble repair language before continuing reprocessing. Participants apply the model to the past, present, and future prongs and practice selecting a phase-appropriate next step that protects fidelity, collaboration, felt security, and client choice.

Presenters: Dr. Arielle Jordan & Yunetta Spring Smith, LPC-MHSP
