In 2008 Elan Shapiro and Brurit Laub developed a new comprehensive protocol for individual work called the Recent Traumatic Episode Protocol (R-TEP). R-TEP presents an integrative approach that incorporates and extends formerly existing protocols together with additional measures for containment and safety. It adapts the eight phases of the standard EMDR protocol for Early EMDR Intervention with individuals.
