Approved for 6 EMDRIA Credits

Narcissism is often associated with selfish behavior and a lack of empathy toward others. Clients with narcissistic presentations may appear self-centered and show limited concern for the suffering they cause in relationships. However, these behaviors can be more accurately understood as manifestations of profound internal struggles that can become meaningful and essential targets for treatment. These struggles frequently include emotional dysregulation, identity diffusion, an unstable sense of agency, limited mentalizing and reflective capacities, self-esteem organized around perfectionism and competition, and difficulties with symbolization and meaning-making. In this training, participants will learn how to conceptualize and treat both classic and vulnerable presentations of narcissism, as well as how to differentiate vulnerable narcissism from borderline adaptations.

This course is held over two days (April 18 & May 30) and an optional consultation group will be offered on June 9.

Presenters: Dolores Mosquera, MA & Kathy Steele, MS
