EMDR therapy is particularly applicable at the crossroad of COVID-19 and our clients’ struggles with addictions, both substance and behavioral. The integration of ego state (parts) work and addiction-specific targets, in addition to the reprocessing of underlying trauma, converge to make this treatment approach a gift for our troubled times. The unique challenges we are facing also offer unique opportunities to heal trauma, both distant and emerging, writes Susan Brown, LCSW in the Spring 2021 issue of Go With That magazine.
