Community Voices: Complex Trauma
Culture and race can profoundly shape how clients experience trauma, resilience, identity, and healing in EMDR therapy.
In this member discussion, EMDR clinicians share reflections and clinical examples in response to the question: “Could you share an example of a time when a client’s culture/race was deeply meaningful as a resource and/or challenge when working with EMDR and complex trauma?” Through diverse perspectives, contributors explore the ways culture and race may serve as strengths, sources of meaning, or important considerations in treatment planning, therapeutic attunement, and trauma processing.
