Treating Interpersonal Dependency and Pathological Bonding Patterns (ID-PBP) with EMDR

Relationships are key to emotional well-being but can foster issues like dependency and pathological bonding, often rooted in early trauma. These problems lead to cycles of conflict, distress, and dissatisfaction in close relationships. Originally developed for acute trauma, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is now recognized as an effective approach for treating chronic relational and attachment trauma in both individual and couples therapy. This article examines how EMDR can help heal the effects of interpersonal dependency and pathological bonding.
