EMDR-IGTP-OTS-R for reduction of trauma symptomatology in Ukraine
The purpose of this study was to understand the impact of an EMDR-based group protocol online on PTSD symptoms of mental health professionals living and working in Ukraine.
Article Abstract
“This quantitative randomized control study sought to understand the impact of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Integrative Group Treatment Protocol for Ongoing Traumatic Stress -Remote (EMDR-IGTP-OTS-R) on trauma and resilience symptomology in mental health professionals who are living and working in Ukraine. The treatment group reported significant reduction of PTSD symptomology as reported on the PCL-5 at posttest and follow-up as compared to the control group. A significant change in well-being as reported on the WHO5 and SWLS, though not sustained. Resilience as reported on the BRS and WORCS showed no significant difference. Results of this study show EMDR-IGTP-OTS-R protocol may be a beneficial treatment for reduction of PTSD symptomology in those who are living and working in a wartime setting. ”
