Materials:
None. Just child’s body to move. Possibly a drum, colors, and paper.
Goal:
Help the child ground in their body and connect with their body sensations.
Instructions:
Guide the child to do the following movements for approximately 30 seconds. Ask the child about their feelings (happy, sad, excited, angry, worried, shy, silly, or any other feeling). Make sure to provide options for the child in order to help them best represent and learn about how they feel emotions. Ask the child where in their body they feel their feelings.
Additional Ideas:
You can do these movements with a group. Just provide opportunities for the children to take turns choosing the movements.
