The article interviews EMDR experts who encourage courts to update outdated beliefs that EMDR tamper with memories: “if we look at the evidence, EMDR doesn’t lend somebody to having false memories any more than any other kind of intervention.”
Comedian Kathy Griffin is quoted as saying “I love EMDR, I think it’s every effective” in The List article “The Tragedy of Kathy Griffin’s Life has Been Unbearably Sad.”
EMDR therapy helps another school shooting survivor, Ellie Wyse, recover from the 2019 Denver school shooting. This Christianity Today article shares how EMDR therapy allowed her to “walk into school without feeling anxious” and advocates for decreasing stigma in Christian circles regarding mental health: “it’s so important to have trauma-informed schools and churches.”
SXSW film screening for Jay Duplass’ new film See You When I See You adapts Adam Cayton-Holland’s book about healing from PTSD and the success he had with EMDR therapy. The Austin Chronicle article reports on Duplass’ concern about audience members relating to PTSD and EMDR therapy, which were put to rest: “People in the audience kept going, ‘I have been throught his,’ or, ‘My loved one has been through this.’ That was inspiring for all of us.”
