Integrating Internal Family Systems into EMDR Therapy’s 8 Phases

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a parts model easily integrated with Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. This article will provide an overview of IFS and address why IFS interventions can benefit trauma processing in EMDR. The role of memory reconsolidation in both models is discussed in addition to specific practical IFS interventions to integrate in each phase of EMDR therapy.
