EMDR therapy and phobias
In this chapter, the evidence for using EMDR therapy for individuals with specific phobias is explored in addition to how specific phobias can be understood within the Adaptive Information Processing model.

“In this chapter, the evidence for using EMDR therapy for individuals with specific phobias is explored in addition to how specific phobias can be understood within the Adaptive Information Processing model. The balance between exploring traumatic antecedents of the phobia and anticipatory fears is discussed. The authors suggest integrating planned exposure tasks and enquiring about spontaneous behavior change between sessions to consolidate gains from EMDR processing sessions. The significance of the flashforward and mental video check procedure as a critical treatment element is explored. A case example is provided to examine the application of EMDR therapy to more complex client presentations.”
