Article Abstract
“Dr. Francine Shapiro died on June 16, 2019, at the age of 71, after a prolonged illness. Acknowledged worldwide as a visionary, leader, and humanitarian, she is best known as the developer of eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. Since she introduced the treatment in 1989 with her randomized controlled trial (Shapiro, 1989), EMDR has moved from a simple technique to an integrated psychotherapy approach.”
