1. Identify
Draw an animal or thing that represents good things to you.
2. Emotions and Sensations
As you draw, notice what you see, hear, and feel right now.
3. Enhancement
Do “Fun Movement” while thinking about this animal/thing.
4. Cue Word
Choose a word or phrase to help you remember this animal or thing.
5. Connect Cue & Resource
Think about your word and your symbol at the same time and add “Fun Movement.”
6. Encourage
Think about this symbol when you need a reminder of positive things.
Additional Ideas:
Instead of drawing, the child can paint, or do a collage, or find images online. You can do this activity with a group. Each member can take turns identifying resources and acting them out. You can plan a game for all the children to show their symbolic resources.
Symbolic Resources
Draw animals or things that you like and represent good things (for example: a dog because it is loving, butterfly because it flies and has many colors, the ocean because it sounds peaceful.
