The shift: With sports psychologist Dr. Michelle Deering of Curative Connections
In this video, Michelle Deering, Ed.D. talks about the psychological pressures placed on people who perform (athletes, singers, dancers, etc.) who can struggle with expectations and performance.
Video Description
“People who perform, rather athletes, singers, dancers, anyone, they have a lot of stigma’s attached to them. Sadly a lot of performance based people struggle with balancing being a human, with excelling in their field and being praised for it. Sadly, one of the things that happens, is that these people can soon start to be viewed as something other than human, and that can affect a person, especially if crippling expectations has been placed on a person and their performance. Dr. Deering talks about what would help to have these performers become more whole, and balanced so that they can thrive in their arena, and out of it.”
