The desensitization of triggers and urge reprocessing (DeTUR) protocol was developed by Dr. A. J. Popky for use with addictions. DeTUR uses bilateral stimulation (BLS), primarily known from EMDR therapy reprocessing phases, to help clients manage cravings, impulses, and addictive or unhelpful behaviors. It includes establishing a positive treatment goal for the client to work toward.
