Tara Sorenson, LCPC, LAC
Preferred Name: Tara
About Me
I offer individual and group services to help people heal from past memories, recent trauma, and addictions. I currently offer tele-therapy services online. I specialize in EMDR. This is an evidenced-based psychotherapy that rewires the brain to help decrease impulses and urges; breakthrough distressing avoidant behaviors; and reduce anxiety and PTSD symptoms. EMDR can also be utilized during coaching sessions to empower individuals to identify limiting beliefs in order to reach their full potential. I am dually licensed as a LCPC and LAC and believe in holistic care to address mental health and addictions at the same time. I specialize in working with individuals with complex trauma, PTSD, and addictions. I offer EMDR intensives to people who want to experience faster results than therapy. Intensives can be offered for individuals, groups, or agency staff in the form of a retreat. Intensives allow flexibility around work schedule and create space for you to heal faster versus attending therapy on a weekly basis. Learn more about whether an EMDR Intensive is right for you by reading more at https://wisewaycounseling.com or contact Tara Sorenson, LCPC, LAC at (406) 272-9550.
Education & Experience
I have completed advanced EMDR trainings focusing on utilizing EMDR Rapid Response techniques with individuals and groups who have experienced a recent trauma (i.e. car accident, shooting, a violent act, fires, or another natural disaster) or ongoing traumatic stress (i.e. COVID related-traumas experienced by Healthcare professionals, Nurses, First-Responders, Police Officers, Fire-fighters, Dispatchers, Teachers, students, schools, and healthcare facilities). This can be offered in a group setting, on-site or at another location. Please call (406) 272-9550 for more information. I am also trained in EMDR DeTUR and Connecting the Consequences to address addictions and other self-destructive behaviors, urges, and impulses. I have over 16 years of experience working in correctional settings and community settings helping people heal from past trauma to create a life they want live. I have also specialized in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for the past 15 years. I received a Master's in Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling in 2011 and a Bachelor's of Science in Human Services in 2006 from Montana State University-Billings.
